- WATER DAMAGE -
Water Damage can lead to a condition known as cupping in hardwood floors. This occurs when excess moisture gets into the hardwood and effects the unfinished underside of the boards. The bottom of each board expands, leading to a wavy appearance.
If your hardwood floors exhibit a cupped look, there is hope they may gradually flatten over time. There is a drying process that needs to happen, and we can assess after a week to see if they need to be replaced or not. In severe cases the floorboards can raise about 3-5 inches, and at this point we would most likely fully replace them.
We will work with your homeowner's insurance to make sure we can get a quick fix to avoid mold growth or further damage.
